JOINT RESPONSE - ROYAL COMMISSION RECOMMENDATIONS

A joint response from CRA and the ACBC to the recommendations of the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse was released publicly on 31 August 2018.

The ACBC and CRA have published a report on 31 August 2023 updating the Church’s progress in implementing the relevant recommendations of the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse.

Recommendation 17.3 of the Royal Commission stated that institutions are to report to the Commonwealth Parliament by 15 December, annually for five years. The ACBC and CRA have submitted five responses as required, which can be accessed on the Australian Government Response to the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse website:

Governance practices are key to Church reforms and CRA supports improvements in governance across the Australian Church. The governance review report called The Light from the Southern Cross (the Report) was published on Friday 21 August 2020 after corrections and clarifications were made along with a reading guide to accompany the Report, which contains 86 recommendations.
