CATHOLIC CHURCH Safeguarding
CRA works collaboratively with Church and non-Church bodies towards a robust approach to safeguarding within the Australian Catholic Church.
Australian Catholic Professional Standards Limited (ACSL), of which CRA is a member, is responsible for the National Catholic Safeguarding Standards (NCSS) which were established to provide a framework to assist Catholic entities to build child-safe cultures. These closely align with the Royal Commission’s recommendations, and the 10 National Principles for Child Safe Organisations developed by the Australian Human Rights Commission and National Children’s Commissioner. Adults at risk have been incorporated into the second edition of the NCSS.
Several national Church documents have been developed to aid consistency of approach and guide Church Authorities in the safe practice of their ministries. Some of these can be accessed on the ACSL website here.
