Catholic Religious Australia (CRA) represents Religious Leaders in the Australian Catholic Church with 150 member institutes across the country. As the peak body and national voice of members, CRA provides a broad range of services to support Religious Institute Leaders. Member support services are tailored to Religious and responsive to their emerging issues, especially in the area of governance, legislation, policies, Vatican documents, safeguarding requirements, formation, professional development and more.
The CRA Secretariat is a small, friendly team of professionals engaged in multiple projects. We are seeking a capable and creative Director of Communications and Engagement, to lead the development and implementation of communication, media and stakeholder strategies for CRA.
The Director of Communications and Engagement (DCE) position is both strategic and operational, with a focus on communication management and membership engagement. The primary purpose of the role is to assist the National Executive Director in:
implementing the initiatives of the President, Council and Secretariat with a particular focus on communications;
providing services which promote and enhance the leadership ministry of our members, through a range of engagement initiatives; and
extend the profile and influence of CRA in the Church and public arenas, supporting the management of CRA’s communications within the broader community.
Ideally, we are looking for someone who has:
An understanding of the Catholic Church, CRA and its mission
Experience in strategy and translating strategy into successful operational outcomes
Experience in communications and media management
Experience in a management role involving supervision of staff
Well-developed relational and rapport building skills
Experience in project management
Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise
Experience in the management of databases
Experience in event management
High level skills in contemporary computer applications including the Microsoft Office suite and preferably web content management systems
