The International Survey of Catholic Women (ISCW) was undertaken in 2022 in response to the call for submissions to the 2021-2024 Synod of Bishops themed ‘For a Synodal Church: communion, participation and mission’. This webinar will feature Dr Tracy McEwan and Dr Kathleen McPhillips discussing the findings and recommendations from the global and Australian reports. There will be an opportunity for questions and dialogue.

Speakers
Tracy McEwan (PhD) is a theologian and sociologist of religion and gender at the University of Newcastle. Tracy’s expertise in qualitative and quantitative social research enables her to apply empirical methods of analysis to diverse contexts. Her writing and research interests include women in Catholicism; domestic and family violence; and sexual and spiritual abuse.
Kathleen McPhillips (PhD) is a sociologist of religion and gender at the University of Newcastle, Australia. She has expertise in the sociology of institutional child sexual abuse in religious organizations, the position of women in contemporary religions, and gender and religion.
