Diversity of viewpoints coming together for one Mission

Catholic Religious Australia is proud to partner with Catholic Mission for the upcoming Mission: One Heart, Many Voices online conference, which will explore the challenges of living the gospel and leading mission in Australia and globally.

The biennial event was last seen in 2019, and this year’s conference will be held from September 1-3, with an additional day of creativity shaped by young people on September 4.

“The conference is critical because it reflects our reality as church,” says Br Peter Carroll, CRA president and Provincial of the Marist Brothers, Province of Australia. “We have many voices but only one mission, only one heart.”

Br Peter says to follow and fulfill the mission of Jesus Christ, there are a “multitude of authentic responses”.

“The conference is designed to give us an opportunity to hear some of these many voices and to explore together the challenges of living the gospel and leading mission in Australia and globally.”

For the fifth time, Catholic Religious Australia will partner with Catholic Mission to present the conference. The biennial event is going virtual and will be presented online for the first time.

“This gathering is one expression of the longstanding and strong relationship we enjoy with Catholic Mission, and the response to this conference from participants, sponsors, and stakeholders has been most encouraging,” says Br Peter.

The Mission: One Heart, Many Voices conference will offer 30 different specialist workshops over three days, featuring keynote local and international speakers and presenters including Senior Australian of the Year, Aboriginal elder from Nauiyu, renowned artist, activist, writer, and public speaker Dr Miriam-Rose Ungunmerr Baumann AM, social psychologist and researcher and author, Hugh Mackay, Australian Ambassador to the Holy See, Chiara Porro, and Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelisation of Peoples, Cardinal Luis Antonio Gokim Tagle.

“Personally, I’m looking forward to hearing the diversity of viewpoints” says Br Peter.
